Montefiore New Rochelle (MNR) has earned Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). Led by a dedicated team of interdisciplinary leaders, this accreditation recognizes MNR for providing the highest standard of care for our communities’ older adults—as an accredited senior-friendly emergency department (ED).
The ACEP’s Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) program recognizes emergency departments that have intentionally designed their space and treatment to provide excellent care for the unique needs of older adults. MNR’s accreditation lasts for three years.
At Montefiore New Rochelle, geriatric patients will find multiple clinicians with an education focus in geriatric emergency medicine, including access to mobility aids, minimization of urinary catheter retention, nothing-by-mouth status and physical restraint use, and further care initiatives tailored to the needs of older adults, resulting in exceptional care for a continually growing population. This accreditation signals that MNR is committed to providing the highest standards of care for the community’s older adults.
