Skin Cancer Checks, Salad and Sun at This Year’s Bronx Week

After a two-year hiatus, Bronx Week made a big comeback. This year's event was bigger and better than ever, and Montefiore Einstein was on the scene at the festival's grand finale on May 15 with an informative and fun health pavilion on Mosholu Parkway.

In addition to blood pressure screenings and diabetes and mental health education and giveaways, the Montefiore Einstein Department of Dermatology offered free skin cancer screenings and festival participants were invited to fill out our Community Health Survey.

The bronx salad

The Bronx Salad, courtesy B. Blossom Catering, was a huge hit at Montefiore Einstein’s Health Pavilion, Bronx Week 2022.

The pavilion also hosted a Bronx Salad demonstration by B-Blossom Catering, a plant-based gourmet food company based in the Bronx and a Montefiore Einstein partner. The salad, which includes corn, black beans, plantain chips, avocados and mangos, along with greens, red peppers, olives and red onions, is meant to redefine the borough as a center for health and vitality. The ingredients represent the rich cultural diversity of the Bronx.
