“It is important to unite academicians and clinicians in a network for critical analysis and dialogue regarding various urological conditions in the Hispanic community,” said Dr. Maria.
Dr. Maria’s findings on health equity in urologic care were recently published by the AUA, which found that in the Northeast, Hispanics make up approximately 15% of the population, whereas around 3% of practicing urologists are Hispanic. His goal for establishing HUSNA is to help bridge this gap.
The society will serve as a network and collaborative forum to grow Hispanic interest in the medical field of urology, creating a unique pipeline into the specialty.
