Congratulations to Elodia Mercier, BS, MS, RN-C, NE, Director, Nursing for Throughput Operations, Montefiore Einstein, on being featured in Minority Nurse magazine’s Champions of Nursing Diversity Series
For nearly 40 years, Mercier has been dedicated to advancing patient care and leading transformative initiatives at Montefiore Einstein. One of these key initiatives was the implementation of a discharge lounge on the Moses campus. The discharge lounge, intended to assist 10 patients daily, quickly increased to 30–40 under Mercier’s leadership, which is a game-changer in an urban hospital. She is also a career mentor and the 2011 recipient of a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) award.
“I have loved being a nurse at Montefiore Einstein,” said Mercier. “I have worked hard here, and Montefiore Einstein has been excellent and supportive of me. I’m always focused on the people we serve regarding safety, getting well and their patient experience. My role as Director of Nursing for Throughput Operations combines these three aspects,” said Mercier.
“If you want to see and experience a family, community, and well-organized hospital, visit—I will have a hot cup of coffee or tea waiting,” Mercier added.
