Montefiore Einstein associates are passionate about the future of lupus research—and in October they laced up their shoes and hit the streets for the cause.
In an effort to raise money and awareness, a team from Montefiore Einstein came together on October 22 for the Walk with Us to Cure Lupus event at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Complex. The event, now in its 20th year, is sponsored by the Lupus Research Alliance and helps fund important research to find personalized treatments and, ultimately, a cure for lupus. The event’s ceremonies included inspiring speakers, including Dr. Clement Tagoe, Chief of the Division of Rheumatology, who discussed the high prevalence of lupus in the Bronx, and Montefiore Einstein’s commitment and dedication to lupus patients. Walkers could load up with purple beads and awareness ribbon tattoos to add to the spirit of the day.
“I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came, supported, helped, donated and enabled us to have such a successful inaugural showing at the Walk to Cure Lupus 2022,” said Noa Schwartz, MD, MS, Assistant Professor, Medicine (Rheumatology), and Director, Institute for Lupus Care and Research, Montefiore Einstein, who organized this year’s team. “It was a great event, made so much better by the enthusiasm and support of our entire team.”
