New York City Research and Improvement Networking Group (NYC RING) Marks 20th Anniversary with Uplifting Convocation

The New York City Research and Improvement Networking Group (NYC RING), a practice-based research network founded to advance primary care providers’ involvement in all phases of clinical research, celebrated its 20th anniversary with an empowering convocation event.

NYC RING was formed in 2003 within Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s Department of Family and Social Medicine to identify and address key questions concerning health disparities and the health care needs of communities that historically have not benefited from rigorous research activities. The newly revitalized network continues to build on its health equity focused mission, now in partnership with the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research by increasing research question relevance, enhancing protocol implementation and facilitating research results’ translation into primary care practice.

The Convocation of Practices, held in November of last year, embodied NYC RING’s mission to build relationships and share resources that equip researchers and providers with the tools to investigate clinical questions that make a meaningful impact on Bronx families’ and communities’ health.

The event showcased an impressive variety of research and quality improvement (QI) activities in progress across the network and provided an opportunity for clinicians, researchers and scholars to connect, exchange ideas and explore future partnerships.

NYC RING draws on resources and expertise from across the Montefiore Einstein family to enrich research related to primary care and empower the clinicians who practice it in the communities we serve. Primary care clinicians and practices within the Montefiore Einstein system can engage NYC RING to develop clinical questions into QI initiatives or formal research studies.

The network amplifies its impact by further extending its services to research that originates outside Montefiore Einstein, offering study design and implementation support in primary care settings for a growing network of greater than 20 partner practices.
