Montefiore Einstein welcomes Ibrahim Abdullah, MD, who joins Montefiore Einstein as Chief, Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, and as Director, Pediatric Heart Transplantation and Pediatric Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery and the Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care. He also will serve as Co-Director of the Pediatric Heart Center, Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM).
Dr. Abdullah is an expert in performing complex operations for children with heart defects, including newborns, and in operating on children with complex anatomical conditions and those requiring transplants. He also specializes in the management of children who need ECMO therapy, in which a machine replaces the function of the heart and lungs in patients whose cardiovascular and pulmonary systems require support.
