Saving Lives, Reducing Health Disparities for Bronx Women with Free Breast and Cervical Cancer Screenings at the Annual See, Test & Treat Event

Early detection of cancers can save lives. That’s why every spring Montefiore Einstein hosts See, Test & Treat, a day of free breast and cervical cancer screenings open to women ages 21 to 64, regardless of health insurance coverage. The annual event, which is designed to provide potentially life-saving preventative care to women in the Bronx, is part of Montefiore Einstein’s ongoing commitment to women in the community who face healthcare disparities.

In partnership with the College of American Pathologists Foundation, Montefiore Einstein provided free mammograms and cervical pap tests on May 20 at the Greene Medical Arts Pavilion in the Bronx. Women who received screenings were provided with fast results and connected with follow-up care when appropriate.

See, Test & Treat is hosted every year by Montefiore Einstein’s Department of Pathology, in collaboration with the Departments of Radiology, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health and the Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) program.

In order to ensure that the program was as accessible as possible to women of all backgrounds, interpretive services were made available onsite and educational materials were provided in multiple languages. No insurance or other documentation was needed to participate.
